Cynthia's yochien (kindergarten) friends had a picnic in the country last weekend. It turned into a beautiful day in an amazing area along the Tama River. David, Cynthia and I rode the train and then walked to the bbq area. (viv had dance practices all day due to recital coming in May) We had fun trying out typical Japanese activities and foods. David and Cynthia pounded mochi (rice pounded into a solid dough) which we then all helped roll and eat. The men were doing some serious grilling and we had tons of meat in all kinds of sauces...... delish!
This is the best season to be out and about viewing all the new blossoms and Japanese people are skilled out bringing out the best of every season in their gardens.
